The criminal act committed at COSMOTE in 2020 not only brutally violated the confidentiality of communications but also personal data.
According to article 14 of Law 3471-2006:
Article 14
Civil liability
1. A natural or legal person who, in violation of this law, causes property damage is obliged to pay full compensation. If he caused moral damage, he is obliged to pay financial compensation.
2. According to article 932 of the Civil Code, financial compensation due to moral damage for a violation of this law is set, at a minimum, at the amount of ten thousand euros (10,000?), unless a smaller amount is requested by the plaintiff. Financial compensation is awarded regardless of the requested compensation for property damage.
3. The claims of this article are heard in accordance with the procedure of articles 664 to 676 of the Civil Code. D., regardless of whether or not the Personal Data Protection Authority or the Communications Privacy Authority issues a decision to establish illegality or to initiate criminal prosecution.
